Build Idols
"A very rushed prototype made in 3 hours for TriJam #284 with the theme "Build During The Day, Defend At Night"
HELP SAVE THE COUNTRY BY BUILDING IDOLS OF OUR LEADERS AND NOT GETTING OVERTAKEN BY THE PROTESTORS.
...decided to enter last minute, sorry for the ugly colors and placeholder stuff! I just had a random idea in my head and wanted to get it out by the deadline.
HOW TO PLAY:
- Use ARROW KEYS to move
- DAYTIME: Hold SPACE to build idols when in area where prompt appears
- NIGHTIME: Avoid getting hit by protestors and press SPACE to deploy bombs
KNOWN BUGS/ISSUES:
- REALLY bad Mozilla text format issues
- Collision problems with player and invisible walls, also clipping
- Font issues everywhere
- Zero time left over to playtest sooooo probably a bit difficult
CREDITS:
- Music : Featuring Music by Matthew Pablo , MIDI "Desolation" by northivanastan on OpenGameArt and open source clips from opengameart.org,
- Art: ART again by me that was quite rushed
- SFX: various free noises from mixkit and various public domain clips from opengameart.org

30,000 points! And what a struggle it was to survive for 5 days! :D
It's a cool idea! I particularly like the fact that the idols you build during the day get in the way of your movements at night (my idol ratio was 3 per day!).
The atmosphere is cool, and personally I like the slightly worn-out colour palette.
Well done for making this game in such a short space of time and at the last minute!
Haha, yeah it was definitely quite a bit more challenging then I had planned but thats the fun of NOT leaving enough time in the process to playtest:)
Glad you appreciated the idols disrupting the movement! That was part of the initial idea and what I was going for when I decided to enter this jam. I had a few other game mechanics in mind too but had to reallllly scale back to get everything in in time to submit.
Thanks for playing and I appreciate you leaving a comment!
27500 is my best score.
I'm very impressed what you can do in 3 hours. The sound and visual effects are on point, it's fast and engaging, and I feel like if I just did one more run maybe I could finally survive night 5...
Thanks for stopping by to comment and for all the kind words!
That's a pretty high score, especially without surviving all 5 nights. Apologies for the completely unbalanced and slightly unfair gameplay:) It was quite rushed towards the end!
